None of us enjoy tackling captchas, those interruptions that force us to "select all the images with traffic lights" and the like. Here's a bit about why you'll sometimes encounter these when using Udio and some steps you can take to minimize the interruptions.
Why does Udio use captchas?
We love creators, musicians, all of you who are individually creating music with Udio... and we want to ensure that we save our music-making computing capacity for you vs. bots stealing these resources.
While we do everything we can to detect and block bots without annoying humans, we do sometimes need to fallback on captchas to make the service practically unusable by bots.
How can humans mostly avoid captchas?
While it's generally not possible to completely avoid captchas, particularly on our free tier*, these tips might help reduce the frequency of captchas:
If you're using a VPN, consider disabling it while Udio'ing
If you've been considering subscribing, take the leap and do it* :)
Be less bot-like; avoid doing a bunch of operations rapidly.
* While cynics might suggest ulterior motives in the reduced-captcha'ing of paying members, note that this reflects dispassionate risk-mitigation; bots became astronomically less economically feasible when each account must be paid for, and thus it's simply less necessary to present paid accounts with captchas.
