The Voices feature enables you to craft new songs featuring a voice from our Voices library or from one of your previously-created songs!
This contrasts with our complementary Styles feature, which lets you create a new song that matches one or more other song styles.
Availability
Platform availability
Voices is available on the web, including the mobile web.
It is not currently available in our iOS app.
Source availability
Also, note that the Voices feature can only use voices from the Voices library or 'native' Udio songs; you cannot upload your own voice as a source at this time, nor can you use a voice from a Udio song that's associated with uploaded audio.
Availability by membership tier
π Subscriber-only aspects of Voices will be free for all Udio members to try out through September 25, 2025.
FEATURE | POWER | AVAILABLE TO... |
Using voices from the Voices Library | Seamless creation of a song with a voice (and optionally style pair) | All tiers |
Use and Save voices | Quickly use, save, and easily re-use a voice from one of your own songs | Subscribers |
Voices customization | Customize voices, styles and style blending | Subscribers |
Using Voices in the Create flow
While all members can use voices from the Voices library, the following options are only available to subscribers:
Style blending (combining two Styles, with or without a voice)
Selecting a song from your own library to guide a new song's voice
Adjusting the STRENGTH of a voice
Navigate to the Create page by clicking on CREATE on the lefthand menu or going to udio.com/create.
Decide whether you want to initiate a new song creation by using a text prompt ("Describe your song" or by having Udio mimic the style of another song on or off the platform ("Use a Style").
βActivate Voice Control by toggling that option on.
Select a voice by dragging and dropping one of the voices above to the drop region, by clicking the + on one of those voices, or by dragging and dropping one of the songs from your library on the righthand side.
Optionally set the STRENGTH of the Voices feature. Note that we've set a default that typically yields the best output, and that max strength does not inherently result in the best voice matching. However, results will vary based on factors such as genre, associated Style, etc... so feel free to experiment!
Optionally make adjustments in the Advanced Control section, just as you'd do for any Udio song.β
β οΈ Some songs can't be used with Voices
Note that there are a few situations in which you cannot use the Voices feature with specific songs you've created on Udio, specifically...
Any songs created in June 2024 or earlier
Songs crafted on Udio by creators other than yourself
Songs that are associated with any uploaded audio (including via remixes, extensions, etc.)
Using, saving, and re-using voices
Only subscribers can use use & save voices or use voices from their own songs in the Create flow
β οΈ Before you SAVE a voice, you have to USE a voice in a song you create
β
Read on to understand how to tackle this in the right order.
Using a voice from one song in another song
You can initiate using a voice from one of your songs from one of three entry points:
On Create page described above
OR
βThrough the three dot menu to the right of the desired song in your library
βOR
Via the CREATE button on one of your song pages
As a reminder, there are a few instances in which you won't be able to copy a voice from one of your songs.
Saving a voice for later use
Once you have used a voice from one song in another song as described above, you can then SAVE the voice for later convenient access.
Using a voice that you saved earlier
Once you've used, then saved a voice, you can re-use that voice later by finding it via the Saved tab of the Create page.
Go to the Create page by clicking on Create on the lefthand menu or visiting udio.com/create.
Ensure that Voice Control is activated, and select the Saved tab
βAs with other voices in Voices, you can preview a voice by clicking on its play button, and you can select that voice by dragging it or +'ing it.
Want to rename one of your voices? No prob! Just right click and then select Rename.
