Changes associated with the Universal Music Group ("UMG") partnership

Increased subscription credit limits, one-time 1000 credit granting, downloads disabled

Updated in the last hour

On October 29, 2025, Udio entered into a partnership with Universal Music Group.

As part of this, the following changes were made to the Udio service:

  • All subscribers have been given a one-time grant of 1000 extra, non-expiring credits.

  • The Standard subscription monthly credit limit has been increased from 1200 to 2400.

  • The Pro subscription monthly credit limit has been increased from 4800 to 6000.

  • Pro subscribers can now create 5 sets of songs (10 songs) at the same time, up from 4 sets.

Downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled. We hope to re-enable downloading after the months-long transition period.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
You'll be able to download your songs created prior to 9pm ET, October 29, 2025 during the 48 hour period of 3 Nov 2025 11am through 5 Nov 2025 10:59am Eastern (New York) Time.

  • Desktop/laptop web only; this will not work well on mobile devices.

  • Free-tier members will be able to download MP3 audio files and lyric videos.

  • Both Standard and Pro subscribers will be able to download stems and WAV files, and also use the bulk downloading option that supports downloading the audio of sets of songs from the library or folders*.

The old Terms of Service -- and the comprehensive permissions granted from it -- will apply to any tracks downloaded during this time.

Note that we hope to enable downloading again ongoing at a later date, but we likely won't have details on this for at least some months.

Learn more about the partnership and how it will enable Udio to offer amazing new opportunities for artists and creators.

More details about the 48-hour download period

How to bulk download up to 50 tracks at a time

Available for subscribers during the Nov 3-5 window described above. Best done on a laptop / desktop, not mobile device. Note that bulk-selecting tracks in playlists is not currently supported.

Troubleshooting tips

  • No download button: If you do not see a download button when trying to download, this is due to you having selected a song that was created or edited after 9pm ET, October 29, 2025. De-select that song to re-enable the download button.

  • Missing files in zip: While error messages may briefly pop up, you may also wish to verify that the total number of files in a zip matches the number of files downloaded in that request. In some cases, song names with non-alphanumeric characters (?, *, etc.) can fail to download.

The folder method

  1. Create a folder if you haven't already done so.

  2. Drag the songs you want to download into that folder.

  3. Click in the middle of the row of the first song in the folder.

  4. Hold down the SHIFT key and click inside the checkbox of the last song in the folder.

    1. If you want to select non-contiguous tracks, you can use the CMD key (on Mac) or CTRL key (on Windows).

  5. Select Download All at the bottom of the screen.

To identify just published songs

  1. Within your library, click on the filter button on the far right

  2. Select the Published filter item on the far left

  3. You can then select and download songs as described above.

FAQ regarding this download period

Can I download the songs on the iOS app or mobile web?

We recommend that you use a desktop or laptop web browser instead.

Can I download songs I made or edited this past weekend?

Sorry, no. Only songs created prior to 9pm ET, Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

What exactly can I download?

  • Free-tier members: MP3 audio files and lyrics-videos of your songs (MP4 files), downloaded individually

  • Subscribers: In addition to MP3s and MP4s (which can be downloaded in bulk), you can download WAV audio files and stems (instrument parts)

Are the songs I'll be downloading fingerprinted or watermarked?

No, they aren't.

My subscription just lapsed or is ending before the download period!

Feel free to renew or sign up for a new subscription and you can write our Support team afterwards to request a cancellation & refund following the download period if you like.

What can I do with the songs I download this week? And the songs I downloaded earlier?

Anything you've always been able to do with them per our prior ToS. The only distinction is that our prior-stated attribution requirements no longer apply; even if you made the songs on a free account, you no longer have to attribute them publicly to Udio.

What if I can't spend time on Udio during these two days or don't have enough time to download everything I want?

We understand that this is a pretty short period, but it's genuinely the best option we could provide at this time, and we don't currently have plans to offer another download window.
